Make Something #2 Cover!

I present to you the cover for the second issue of Make Something which should be out later this month! It was created by the very talented Mroo (more excellent work viewable here), also make sure to check out her web comic Projections on the page, and then harass her about updating it again, I am dying to know where the robot is going and what will happen next.

Another preview!

The issue was completely laid out and all tweaks were done Saturday, in the next few days I will be getting the proof copy to make sure everything worked and then the first issue of Make Something will be available for purchase through MagCloud! But to tide everyone over here is another preview of what will be in the first issue.

Josh Catlett presents a guide of what he learned while in Japan recently (spoiler there was an awesome Gundamn statue)
If you find yourself more than a little confused and think you may be going crazy, don't worry, you're just in Japan.

I sampled a lot of food while there and, no lie, the only thing that made me sick was the food from the "100 yen menu" at McDonald's.

The John Lennon Museum in Saitama City is the only place I visited that had mouthwash in the bathroom. Ironic, given the stereotype about British oral hygiene.

Checking in with 2010

There isn't much to report at this time. We are two weeks out from the deadline for the very first issue, and pretty much everything is waiting on the submissions. Once those are in there will start being some previews on here, and I hope interviews with some of the creators. The cover is also getting slightly tweaked as well. The logo has been mostly established, so expect a new showing of that soon as well. Other then that, I hope you're having a happy 2010.

Also there is still room for the April issue. So if you would like to contribute to the magazine please send an email at makesomethingmag@gmail.com

Update and contest!

We have steadily been chugging along here at Make Something and along with receiving some great content for the first issue (nothing to share or preview just yet), but we do have some contests!

Contest: Weaponizer is running a short Twitter sized fiction contest for Make Something magazine. Submit a burst fiction that is the size of a tweet (140 characters or less) either via Twitter by direct messaging @weaponizer or by email, sending it to editor.weaponizer[at]gmail.com. The selected entries will be part of a two page spread with illustrations, all fiction are the copyright of the writer and will remain as such.

Submissions: If you are interested in submitting a piece of short fiction, poetry, art work, pictures, a comic, or anything that combines words and images, please send an email to MakeSomethingMag@gmail.com files can be in most anything, if it needs to be changed will let you know. All submissions can take anywhere from 1-4 pages, and the sky is the limit. We will be editing for grammar and spelling, and if there are any further suggested changes we will contact the creator. All rights are retained by the creator, you are just giving us the printing rights for an issue of the Print on Demand magazine and nothing else.
